Floor cleaning products that contain, acid, ether or alcohol are not recommended for Saltillo or Mexican Tile floors. The acids and/or alcohol in floor cleaning products like white vinegar and Fabulso will dissolve any sealer on Mexican tile floors and eventually pit the finish of the tile. Also while all that is going on any original color in your grout will become a dark gray over time.

Warning the frequent use of Fabuloso to clean your Mexican tile floors will dissolve the applied finish, make the floors look dull and eventually pit the tile finish and make it more difficult to maintain your Mexican tile floor.

UPDATE Feb 8, 2023… ABC News FABULOSO RECALL: 4.9 million Fabuloso cleaning products recalled due to bacteria risk. A number of popular Fabuloso cleaning products were recalled Wednesday by the Colgate-Palmolive Company due to risk of bacteria contamination, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. About 4.9 million units — as well as about 56,000 units in Canada — of various Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaner products were impacted by the recall, according to the CPSC. The affected products were produced from Dec. 14, 2022 through Jan. 23, 2023, according to the company. “We are voluntarily recalling certain Fabuloso products because a preservative was not added at the intended levels during manufacturing,” Fabuloso said in a statement on its official recall website. “With inadequate preservative, there is a risk of bacteria growth in the recalled products. The recalled products can contain Pseudomonas species bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas fluorescens, which are environmental organisms found widely in soil and water.”

The acids in white vinegar and Fabulso will take out any color pigment in your grout and leave you with a blotchy mismatch of grout colors on your Mexican tile floor. Luda S. Sarasota, FL 2/4/2016: I wanted to thank Mexican Tile Renew or the great job they have done (inside and outside) the property. The owner of the company stayed on the job for the entire duration — five + hours and worked side by side with his helpers. The result was — magnificent cleaned up old, damaged tiles inside of the house. They also cleaned and renewed the outside pool deck. It looked great until the pool company came and ruined all that great work. The owner was gracious and came back to review the damage done by negligent pool company and fixed the problem by stripping and sealing the space again. I was on a deadline to finish the job and I cannot thank them enough. It’s a good idea to consult with them and see if you need to clean or prepare your space (floor) prior to their arrival. The sealer was clear and was dry within few hours. Thank you so much, Mexican Tile Renew Really, really appreciated it your hard work and advice.
