FABULOSO CONTAINS ETHYLENE OXIDE AND ACID

FABULOSO CONTAINS ETHYLENE OXIDE, At room temperature, ethylene oxide is a flammable colorless gas with a sweet odor. It is used primarily to produce other chemicals, including antifreeze. In smaller amounts, ethylene oxide is used as a pesticide and a sterilizing agent. The ability of ethylene oxide to damage DNA makes it an effective sterilizing agent but also accounts for its cancer-causing activity.Prolonged use of Fabuloso on Mexican tile floors will cause the applied sealer to dissolve and promote bacteria growth in the unsealed clay tile, turning the Mexican tile black.

UPDATE Feb 8, 2023… ABC News FABULOSO RECALL: 4.9 million Fabuloso cleaning products recalled due to bacteria risk. A number of popular Fabuloso cleaning products were recalled Wednesday by the Colgate-Palmolive Company due to risk of bacteria contamination, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. About 4.9 million units — as well as about 56,000 units in Canada — of various Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaner products were impacted by the recall, according to the CPSC. 

The affected Fabuloso products were produced from Dec. 14, 2022 through Jan. 23, 2023, according to the company (NOTHING FROM PRIOR YEARS SO THEY SAY). “We are voluntarily recalling certain Fabuloso products because a preservative was not added at the intended levels during manufacturing,” Fabuloso said in a statement on its official recall website. “With inadequate preservative, there is a risk of bacteria growth in the recalled products. The recalled products can contain Pseudomonas species bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas fluorescens, which are environmental organisms found widely in soil and water.”What diseases are caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa? The most serious infections include malignant external otitis, endophthalmitis, endocarditis, meningitis, pneumonia, and septicemia. The likelihood of recovery from pseudomonas infection is related to the severity of the patient’s underlying disease process. Prolonged use of Fabuloso will put this bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa growing in your unsealed Mexican tile floor. Under adverse conditions, after strong flooring strippers have been used, it may sometimes be necessary to sand old Mexican tiles that have Mex-Seal embedded in the tile and/or black/white dots from a rubber pad embedded in the tile, an oscillating hand held sander is used and does not mark the tile with any circles.

A simple sanding will take care of the problem seen above using a small oscillating sander, oscillating sanders are easy to control, you can use them to round edges, sand inside corners as well as smooth a flat or rough surface. If stain appears near the surface of sealed clay, gently try sanding away stain.
