To stain Saltillo tiles, Mexican Tile Renew will thoroughly clean and strip the old sealer first, then pre-seal the porous tile. Mexican tile renew will then apply the different color stains in thin, even coats using a white terry cloth rag, working one tile at a time by hand and wiping up excess immediately. After the final coat is dry, we apply a new, breathable sealer to protect the stain.

Hot steam water is the enemy for porous clay Mexican tiles with an applied finish, and steam cleaning them will surely ruin the tile and the sealer.
