Mexican Tile Floor Care: Do Not use Vinegar to Clean Your Mexican Tile Floor it Will Ruin the Finish.

Mexican Tile Floor Care: Do Not use Vinegar to Clean Your Mexican Tile Floor it Will Ruin the Finish. Vinegar is an acid. Proper weekly maintenance is just as important as getting the right installer in order to extend the life of your Mexican Saltillo tile. “No Mop & Glo and no Endust, no Spic and Span.” Would you put any of these things on your car? Don’t use them on your Mexican tile.”

Do not use vinegar and water a technique often promoted by tile setters after a tile installation and grouting. The vinegar will remove the leftover grout haze but continued use of vinegar, an acid, is harmful to tile and grout. The acid will eat right through the grout.

The best place to find neutral cleaners is the hardware or tile store, not the supermarket.
— The floors should be swept often. The combination of sand and leather soles has the same effect as sandpaper. The floor will be more difficult to clean and keep clean.
— Use a damp mop at least once a week. Your best tools are a 32-ounce cotton rag mop, a rolling mop bucket and a neutral cleaner that doesn’t contain acid, nitrates or phosphates. Be sure to rinse well with clean water.

Saltillo tile is a type of terra-cotta tile that originates in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. Saltillo-type tiles are now manufactured at many places in Mexico, and high-fire “Saltillo look” tiles, many from Italy, compete with the terra-cotta originals. Saltillo tile vary in color and shape, but the majority range from in varying hues of reds, oranges and yellows. Tiles are shaped either by pressing quarried clay with a wooden frame, or carving out the desired shape.

Depending on the raw tile’s placement among other tiles at the time of firing, its colour ranges from yellow to a rich orange. Saltillo tile is highly porous, and soaks in liquid easily. Unlike most ceramic tile, there is no glaze on the top surface of the tile. It is difficult to install as it absorbs water from the thin-set mortar, grout, grease pencils, etc. Once placed, it stains and scuffs easily if not properly sealed and maintained with a quality sealant. ‘MEXICAN TILE RENEW’ ACRYLIC SELAERS offers high gloss protection and beauty to unglazed Mexican paver tile and other porous terra cotta surfaces with fewer coats. A blend of the latest in acrylic polymer technology has been coupled with an antimar agent, U.V. inhibitors and a grease and oil blocker to become the perfect solution for sealing porous tile.

Seal Mexican-Saltillo Tile | Clean Mexican-Saltillo Tile l Mexican Tile Renew Sarasota Fl taking care of business for over 21 years.
 Luda S. Sarasota, FL 2/4/2016:
I wanted to thank Mexican Tile Renew for the great job they have done (inside and outside) the property. The owner of the company stayed on the job for the entire duration — five + hours and worked side by side with his helpers. The result was — magnificent cleaned up old, damaged tiles inside of the house. They also cleaned and renewed the outside pool deck. It looked great until the pool company came and ruined all that great work. The owner was gracious and came back to review the damage done by negligent pool company and fixed the problem by stripping and sealing the space again. I was on a deadline to finish the job and I cannot thank them enough. It’s a good idea to consult with them and see if you need to clean or prepare your space (floor) prior to their arrival. The sealer was clear and was dry within few hours. Thank you so much, Mexican Tile Renew. Really, really appreciated it your hard work and advice.
